Deaux allows anyone in the world to spin up a prediction market for their own target audience. It provides the front and back end technology for launching applications, so each market creator can focus on reaching their end users.

As the crypto space matured the emergence of smart contract platforms opened up new possibilities for decentralized applications. This innovation paved the way for more sophisticated financial instruments and protocols, including prediction markets. However, regulatory and interface complexity have prevented widespread adoption of such platforms.

Research

Deaux wanted to improve their product-market-channel fit in a nascent and complex field. Using content across key channels like ads and landing pages, we conducted multivariate testing, assessed conversion, and developed heuristic evaluations. Looking at metrics like impressions, clicks, click-through rates, signups helped us assess audience validation and engagement.

We also completed market research, identifying potential competitors across prediction markets, blockchain technology, and decentralized applications.

Several rounds of testing on the most important channels, combined with our market research findings, demonstrably improved validation of Deaux’ product-market approach and created clear next steps for product and marketing work.

Insights

01

Define the landscape

Our market research mapped the competitive field across prediction markets and related platforms, clarifying Deaux’s position and white space.

02

Start with the signals

We used ad and landing page testing to gauge interest, quickly identifying where user curiosity translated into actual engagement.

03

Validate before building

Running lean experiments helped us validate audience interest and segment appeal without over-investing in unproven features.

Brand and Positioning

Building off of our research, Deaux wanted to translate product-market-channel findings into concrete ways to drive usage via the product, both driving more traffic to the app and generating additional insights around user behavior.

We designed, wrote copy, built, and launched several targeted landing pages, rapidly prototyping and exploring thematically relevant areas for prediction markets like memetics, politics, sports, and news, to drive engagement with prospective users.

Our design and prototyping allowed us to determine which areas had the most interest, giving a boost to acquisition efforts, and setting the stage for increased engagement and retention on the product.

Insights

01

Follow the use case

Design concepts were rooted in real-world use cases, allowing us to align product experience with emerging demand across different prediction verticals.

02

Prototype with purpose

We tested multiple landing page themes tied to current events and cultural niches, revealing which areas resonated most with potential users.

03

Move fast, learn faster

Rapid iterations helped us quickly assess what worked and what didn’t—translating channel insights into actionable product design decisions.

Marketing

In order to create a comprehensive user acquisition strategy, we needed to solve for identifying not only target audiences, but messages that would connect with people. Experiments with ads were run across various platforms and crypto-focused communities to identify the most effective channels.

Different value propositions and feature highlights were tested to see which drove the most engagement and conversions, experimenting with different audience segments to refine the ideal customer profile.

We created core messages emphasizing ease of use, global accessibility, and Deaux’s balance between user experience and blockchain benefits. Locking in our messaging and value proposition advanced the promotion of Deaux to the next set of market segments.

Insights

01

Meet users where they are

Channel experiments helped identify platforms and communities already primed for prediction-based engagement, guiding spend and outreach strategy.

02

Refine the hook

We tested variations of the value proposition—ease, global reach, trust, UX—to learn which messages drove the most clicks and conversions.

03

Turn messaging into momentum

Once core messages clicked, we used them to shape acquisition and community-building strategy across campaigns and user segments.

Outcomes

Deaux launched on target, and though part of an incubator program, acquired real users who traded on the platform with real money. Their success continued as they pivoted to open source the project code, and collaborated with partner platforms like Long Bets to reach a larger audience.

Our work with Deaux enabled them to launch a public beta with a lean team on a highly compressed timeline, with fully validated personas, flows, and messaging. Deaux partnered with Working Group to validate product-market fit, improve the user experience, and craft messaging that could resonate across both crypto-native and general audiences.

Foundational work to understand Deaux’s market and channels established a strong product-market approach, which we immediately translated into actual product flows, drilling down further into user behavior and identifying focus areas for development. We then honed in on a narrative and value proposition that set Deaux up for their next stage of growth.
